Dolly: (5-22-99 to 12-26-11) Howdy! My name is Dolly and I am a good ol’ girl that found myself at the local shelter at 12 years old! Luckily for me, in November of 2010, Carolina Basset Hound Rescue picked me up so I could become a member of their rescue. I was very skinny so they brought me to see Dr. Monce at PetSound Animal Hospital the next day.
He found that I had several tumors, all of which were cancerous. While Carolina Basset Hound Rescue went out of their way to treat me, the estimated costs were beyond their capabilities. Dr. Monce worked with the rescue to give me a future. Meanwhile, the entire staff fell in love with me. Dr. Monce decided to keep me at PetSound to treat my illness and give me the best years of my life.
I have gained weight and energy! I play with the new puppies that come in and snuggle with just about anyone that will let me. I’m currently spending my time at home with my foster mama, Peggy, one of PetSound’s receptionists who is a fellow basset hound lover. I spend my doggy days with Dani, my 2-year-old Basset hound foster sister. We go on walks with our foster mama around the neighborhood and to the dog park.
"Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an pet dies that has been especially close to someone here, they go to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. Her bright eyes are intent; Her eager body quivers. Suddenly she begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, her legs carrying her faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... "
